Sure - Unilever
They wanted to launch the Sure deodorant product in Asia, starting with the Indian subcontinent before the smart phone era, when Nokia held 70% of the global phone market with simple handsets. As part of the product launch, their plan was to create a reward system and a multi-level marketing platform. The main challenge was creating a platform at time when web and email access was limited but mobile phones were ubiquitous, such that all users could interact with Unilver and the Sure brand either via web, email or sms (to register points, enquire balance of points, and so on).
The solution was to create a multi-channel platform using Drupal as the backend engine, integrated with email and SMS service providers. This also allowed Unilever to create various landing pages for A/B testing, and different recruitment strategies that could be tested via email and SMS interaction with their target audience.
The main benefit of our architecture was that any change in business rules could be made just once in the backend, and simultaneously reflect in the way emails, SMS text messages, and so on, were processed. As a result, the user has a uniform experience regardless of which medium she chose to communicate with the brand.
Key features include:
- Rewards management: earning and redemption of rewards
- Checking your points via email or SMS
- Single sign-on either via phone number or email id -- either were treated as the user id
- Multimedia campaigns, landing pages, content management via Drupal
- Admin dashboard to manage users, points, rules
Blisstering has invested in integrating Drupal with multiple channels of user interaction such as web, native mobile apps, SMS, email, IVR, Voice (to name a few). We leveraged this capability to rapidly create a complex platform ensuring a successful product launch, coordinated with TV and Radio campaigns.
